Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, @ASUUNGR, in Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has condemned the removal of the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, by Governor Kayode Fayemi. The vice chancellor of EKSU was arbitrarily removed. The removal is hereby condemned in strong terms and in its entirety. The university is an autonomous institution with extant rules and governing regulations. The appointment and removal of a VC has procedures under the laws of the university. ASUU-EKSU chairman, Prof. Olufayo Olu-Olu, in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday said Fayemi’s action did not follow due process. Olu-Olu said the governor lacked the powers to remove the VC. Adding that, “It is the university's Governing Council that has the power to remove the VC, after following due process.” Read more below
