Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. The FIFA Best Awards was held on Monday night at the Teatro Alla Scala in Milan. Lionel Messi, Megan Rapinoe and Jurgen Klopp are some of the winners that emerged on the night. Messi arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk, to the men’s prize. Rapinoe, who won the world this year, won the women’s award. The Best FIFA Awards was launched in 2016, after France Football broke the Ballon d’Or away from world football’s governing body following corruption allegations. Chelsea confirm they will appeal FIFA’s transfer ban

Chelsea have confirmed they will appeal FIFA’s decision to impose a two-window transfer ban on the club. The Premier League side have been banned from signing players, after being found guilty of breaching rules about signing minors by FIFA. The Premier League club have also been fined more than £460,000, while the FA face a £390,000 sanction. FIFA have given the club 90 days to rectify the situation concerning the players signed. Chelsea, in a statement, however made it clear that they “categorically refute the findings of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee and will therefore be appealing the decision”. The appeal will be heard by FIFA Appeal Committee, while the club can also appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Chelsea have been banned from signing new players in the next two transfer windows for breaching rules in relation to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18, Fifa has announced. They have also been fined 600,000 Swiss francs, while the  Football Association  has been fined 510,000 Swiss francs. The ban does not prevent the release of players and will not apply to Chelsea’s women’s and futsal teams. An official statement released on Friday reads: “The Disciplinary Committee sanctioned Chelsea with a ban on registering new players at both national and international level for the next two (2) complete and consecutive registration periods. This ban applies to the club as a whole – with the exception of the women’s and futsal teams – and does not prevent the release of players.”

REUTERS/Arnd Wiegmann Sepp Blatter has been summoned to explain how Germany was awarded the 2006 World Cup as prosecutors in Switzerland investigate suspected corruption in the bidding process, the disgraced former FIFA supremo told AFP on Thursday. Swiss authorities are targeting Franz Beckenbauer, former captain and coach of the German World Cup winning sides, who was president of the German 2006 bid, with a suspect 6.7 million euros ($7.5M) payment at the heart of the investigation. “Via my lawyer I got a call up on February 8 to a meeting with the Berne public prosecutor as a person of interest in the attributing of the 2006 World Cup to Germany,” Blatter told AFP.
