Twitter Sued For Deleting Transgender-Hate Account

Image
Everything you need to live well Twitter has been sued by a Canadian Blogger who claims that they have no right to ban her permanently after she tweeted about the transgender community. Meghan Murphy, the founder of the blog Feminist Current, wrote in her lawsuit that Twitter locked her account after she tweeted, “Men aren’t women” because that was not their gender when they were born. “How are transwomen not men? What is the difference between a man and a transwoman?” However, things took another turn after she referred to a transgender woman as “him.” This led Twitter to delete her from their platform permanently. Their basis is that she violated their rules against hateful conduct, a decision that was introduced last year. According to Twitter, referring to transgender incorrectly is called “misgendering” and those who refer to them by their birth gender is “deadnaming.” Murphy, who filed the lawsuit on Monday in the Superior Court of California, argues that Twitt...

Trump Accuses Facebook, Twitter, Google Of Supporting Democrats

Image
US President Donald Trump. / AFP U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday again criticised social media companies Facebook Inc, Alphabet Inc’s Google and Twitter Inc, alleging that they were biased against him and other Republicans, but offering no evidence. Trump accused the companies of blocking his followers and making it harder for people to follow him. The companies have said in recent months that they have removed suspicious accounts after the networks were used in misinformation campaigns attempting to influence voters in the 2016 U.S. presidential race and other elections. An analysis for the Senate Intelligence Committee released Monday described an organized campaign by the St Petersburg-based Internet Research Agency (IRA) to hurt Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee, by inflaming right-wing conspiracy theories and suppressing the vote of traditionally liberal groups such as African Americans. The IRA-created account “Blacktivist” sent out messages such as: “No ...
