Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. 37-year-old man remanded over alleged murder in Lagos

A Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court has remanded a 37-year-old man, Udoka Onumara, over alleged murder. The accused, whose address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge of murder. The prosecutor, Sgt. Modupe Olaluwoye told the court that the deceased was trying to separate a fight between the accused and another person and got hit on the head with an iron rod by the accused, which resulted in his death two days later. “My Lord, the accused was not satisfied with how the deceased was separating the fight; he picked an iron rod and struck the deceased on his head. “He slumped and was quickly rushed to the hospital, where he was in a coma for two days before he was pronounced dead,” she said. The plea of the accused was, however, not taken. Magistrate Oluwatoyin Oghere ordered that the accused be remanded in Ikoyi prison pending receipt of legal advice from the Office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
