Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu says unlike President Muhammadu Buhari, the integrity of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is questionable. The former Lagos governor said Buhari is a man of his word while Atiku sways back and forth on issues. Tinubu made the remark in a statement released by Tunde Rahman, his media officer, on Tuesday. The statement read: “They seek to reverse the democratic maxim that government is the servant of the people. The PDP wants a situation where those in government are the masters while the people bow their heads to the interests of the mighty and the rich. “Leave a naira on the table with Buhari in the room, you will find the naira on the table when you return,” he said. “When Buhari says ‘yes’ or ‘no’,  you know where he stands.
