Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. ASUU strike: FG pleads with lecturers, promises to pay new minimum wage

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has pleaded with striking university teachers to show mercy on students by calling off their strike. The teachers, under the auspices of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), began a nationwide strike since November, last year, over some disagreement between the union and the Federal Government. Ngige, speaking with reporters in Awka, Anambra State on Sunday, also declared that Federal Government would pay a minimum wage, adding that things were being worked out by the Committee saddled with that responsibility. He said: “FG will comfortably pay minimum wage, we want to pay it, but there must be balancing because figures were bandied and we are asking Labour to exercise patience. “I appeal to ASUU and Labour to have mercy on students and be patient. The French legend is keen to talk seriously about taking over as boss and turn the Blues into contenders again at home and abroad with a £200m transfer kitty. CHELSEA are ready to turn to Zinedine Zidane to make them a European superpower again. Current manager Maurizio Sarri is running out of backers after the 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City as the Blues dropped to sixth in the Premier League. There is growing support amongst the top brass for Zidane and talks have advanced this week over when they should make their move. Zidane’s incredible Champions League credentials, winning it three times in three years as manager of Real Madrid, are a huge draw for the Blues board.
