Lai Mohammed and President Buhari Nigeria’s minister of information, Lai Mohammed had come under severe attack on Friday, after a video wherein he was pleading with Nigerians to forgive President Muhammadu Buhari over his West African Examination Council(WAEC) emerged online. The  Federal Government  has told the  El-Zakzaky-led Shiite members  to  cease  from violent street  protests  and await the decision of the court in Kaduna where their leader is currently being tried. Shiite members have been on a series of protests demanding the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, who has been in custody since fighting between his supporters and the army broke out in December 2015. The Shi’ia leader is facing trial over allegations of culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of the public peace, among others. The national chairman of the All Progressive Congress political party, Adams Oshiomhole was chased away by a security personnel for breaching protocol at the Presidential inauguration in Abuja today. The former Governor of Edo State was filmed standing next to the acting chief judge of Nigeria and other security personnel as they waited for the arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice Yemi Osinbajo. Babajide Sanwo-olu Makes First Appointment

Few hours after he was officially handed over to, incoming Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has made his first appointment. He has appointed Tayo Ayinde as the new Chief of Staff. Ayinde was Sanwo-Olu’s Campaign Director. Sources close to Ayinde confirmed the appointment of the former Campaign Director of Sanwo-Olu. Many friends of Ayinde has bombarded the social media with congratulatory messages. Head of states, President Buhari has stated that the people who have referred to him as  Baba Go Slow during his first term in office, will be shocked at the pace he will work in his second term which commences tomorrow Wednesday, May 29th. The President made this known during a special interview session with the Nigerian Television Authority NTA which aired last night. According to President Buhari, he will be more ruthless and he will ensure the judiciary and police work effectively. When asked if he will be more ruthless in his second term, he said “ Those who call me ‘baba go slow’ will see whether I am slow or fast .” Expatiating, President Buhari said, “It means I will persuade the police and the judiciary to be hard and where I uncover that they are not hard, I will find out who is responsible for the slowness in terms of command from the DPO upwards. The IG cannot do it alone; he needs to depend on commissioners who in turn depend on DPOs.”

Presidency explains why Buhari can’t guarantee end to Boko Haram insurgency

The Presidency has said there is no guarantee that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari will eradicate Boko Haram insurgency. The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, explained that such promise can’t be made because Boko Haram has become a global challenge. He stated that the federal government was doing all it can to tackle banditry and kidnapping. Amaechi had stated this during a valedictory session Buhari had with his Ministers at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Reacting, Fani-Kayode described Amaechi as “an accursed slave”, hence Buhari need not convert him to Islam. FG: Ministers To Continue With Work Till May 28 – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has given directives that ministers should continue working until Tuesday, May 28th. The president who presided over the valedictory federal executive council held at the state house, Abuja on Wednesday, asked the ministers to keep working, as they prepare to hand over to the permanent secretaries of their respective ministries. According to Buhari, the ministers should submit their handover letters to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on that same date. The ministers also recounted their experience while working with Buhari in the last three and a half years. The Valedictory session held at the council chambers of the presidential villa, Abuja.

Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration in Lagos State, the confusion over the whereabouts of the 2019 Appropriation Bill passed by the Lagos State House of Assembly seems to have no end in sight. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there were a lot of impasses between the executive and the House before the budget was formally presented in February by the governor on the floor of the House. Gov. Abiola : "Oyo Spent N46bn On Tertiary Institutions In 7 Years"

Abiola Ajimobi The Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, says his administration has spent about N46 billion to fund the state-owned tertiary institutions in the last seven years. He stated this on Monday while inaugurating the ultramodern Oba Akinbiyi Model School at Mokola, Ibadan, the state capital. According to him, the School Governing Board (SGB), a novel participatory model of school management system introduced by his administration in 2016, which accommodates the stakeholders in the day-to-day running of public secondary schools, had so far attracted funding to the tune of N15bn. Ajimobi’s comments come shortly after swearing-in 11 newly-appointed permanent secretaries. Politics Today: INEC withdraws 25 certificates-of-return

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has withdrawn 25 Certificates-of-Return issued to some candidates that won some elections during the 2019 General Elections. This was disclosed by the Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Festus Okoye, at a `Forum on Media Coverage of 2019 General Elections’ held in Enugu today Monday, May 20th. According to Okoye, the certificates were withdrawn following different court orders. He disclosed that 20 of the 25 certificates-of-return were withdrawn from All Progressive Congress (APC) members to other APC members; while two from People Democratic Party (PDP) members were withdrawn and issued to other PDP members. He said that the other three were withdrawn from APC and PDP; and given to other political parties. Speaking at the forum, Okoye said “The commission has withdrawn 25 certificates-of-return from the first owners to their new owners following court orders to do that''.
