Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. Queen Uboh test running the bus Friesland Campina WAMCO, manufacturers of Peak Milk brand, recently hosted the Unstoppables, a team of para-powerlifters, as a mark of honour for their landmark performance at the just held World Para-powerlifting Competition in Lagos, where Team Nigeria came out tops. The team won a total of 42 medals (20 Gold, 15 Silver and 7 Bronze) at the just concluded World Para-powerlifting Competition held in Lagos. This is seen as increased motivation for the athletes to ‘Reach for the Peak’ at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Games. The company’s Managing Director, Ben Langat, led top management of the company to the presentation ceremony, which had the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Olusade Adesola, who stood in for the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, as the Special Guest of Honour.
