Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. The Osun State Correspondent of DAILY POST Newspaper, Mr. Olaniyi Ajibola on Monday emerged as the Chairman of Osun chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel. Ajibola polled a total of 18 votes to defeat the former Chairman, Hameed Oyegbade of Daily Trust Newspapers, with 10 votes. Other elected members of the new executive include: Mr Lateef Dada of Blueprint Newspapers, who emerged Secretary of the chapel with total of 19 votes to defeat Mr Yinka Salam of Voice of Nigeria who scored 9 votes. Others are: Ayobami Agboola of Odua News, who was returned unopposed for the position of Assistant Secretary, Mr Jide Idowu of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) for the position of Treasurer and Mrs Yetunde Oladejo of Western Post Newspaper as the Assistant.
