Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. In what looks like the first major event of the film industry in 2019, the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) brought a wide spectrum of security agencies in conference with film practitioners, on the need to sanitise the film industry of unclassified film and video works. The three-day event, with the theme: Strengthening Enforcement Against Unclassified Film and Video Works, took place at the Elomaz Hotels, Maryland, Lagos, with participants drawn from the Nigeria Police, Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Nigerian Immigrations Service (NIS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Department of State Services (DSS), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), members of Nollywood guilds and associations, and staff of the NFVCB.
