The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday revealed his next line of action when the new minimum wage for workers is implemented. Buhari disclosed that his administration will be going into negotiations for salary review for all the workers who are already earning above the new minimum wage. The president made the disclosure while inaugurating a technical advisory committee for the implementation of the new national minimum wage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. According to Buhari, his administration was getting ready to meet these new demands. ”We anticipate that after the new minimum wage has been passed into law, we will be going into negotiations for salary review for all the workers who are already earning above the new minimum wage. “It is therefore important that we are properly prepared to meet these demands,” he said.
