Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. Woman armed with kitchen knife storms kindergarten and slashes 14 children (distressing footage)

A 39-year-old woman stormed a kindergarten in China and attacked children, leaving at least 14 injured, with many in critical condition. The woman, identified only by her surname Liu, attacked the kids at the gate of Xinshiji Kindergarten as they returned from morning exercise with their teacher, police said. Armed with a kitchen knife, she slashed and stabbed the innocent youngster, some as young as three. The knife attack happened at about 9:30 am on the morning of Friday, October 26, 2018, at the gate of Xinshiji Kindergarten in Banan District of China's southwestern city of Chongqing. The children were taken to hospital where many were in a serious condition. Some news outlets in China claimed that two of the youngsters had died. FG, Labour and the new minimum wage

THE organised labour has issued a statement saying it would embark on a nationwide strike on Tuesday  November 6, 2018, over the impasse on the new minimum wage with government. It accused government of being disingenuous with the whole process. I would advise that the federal government calls Labour to table and resolved this matter once and for all by reaching a reasonable comprise and save Nigerians yet again from another bout of untold hardship, and the country’s fragile economy from continuous hemorrhage. Resorting to the old-fashion tactics of intimidation, blackmail and trickery have never worked; it would only make matters worse. This is against the backdrop of the recent release of a White Paper by government on the no work, no pay rule of engagement. The timing of this White Paper is ominous.
