AC Milan has been Banned by UEFA from European Football for next season( 2019/2020) after breaching the Financial Fair Play rule. European football’s governing body UEFA had accused the club of violating financial fair play (FFP) regulations over the past three seasons and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Friday ruled in their favour. “AC Milan is excluded from participating in UEFA club competitions of the sporting season 2019/2020 as a consequence of the breach of its FFP break-even obligations” for the past three seasons, the court ruled. UEFA initially found the Italian giants, who had qualified for the Europa League next season, guilty in June last year of violating financial rules which broadly limit club expenditure to club income in any given year. However, CAS referred the matter back to UEFA judging that an European ban was disproportionate. Nigerian Super Falcons players staged a sit-in protest last night, refusing to leave their hotel in France until all of their outstanding bonuses are paid, following the team’s elimination from the Women’s World Cup. The players told ESPN they are owed bonuses from two games, against Gambia and Senegal, from as far back as two years ago, amounting to 2 million Nigerian naira (about $5,600 U.S.), but they have been paid only half of that. They also say they are owed five days of daily allowance while at the World Cup. “They paid us 1 million [naira] and said that is all. We want them to pay the balance. Part of that money is from two years ago, the other is from three years ago. And they are also owing us five days’ daily allowance here in France. Arsenal and Nigeria soccer legend, Kanu Nwankwo, has just been appointed by the Confederation of African Football(CAF) to be part of a special envoy for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON that commences in Egypt on Friday. Kanu Nwanko AKA ''papillo'' was shortlisted along with six other African legends for the special roles, according to Sporting Life. The other six African Soccer legends that made the list are : Mahmoud El Khateeb (Egypt), Samuel Eto’o (Cameroon), Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba (Both Cote d’Ivoire), Rabeh Madjer (Algeria), and El Hadji Diouf (Senegal). Kanu won the CAF African Footballer of the Year in 1996 and 1999 respectively. The former Super Eagles Star man also featured in six AFCON editions for Nigeria from 2000 to 2010. AFCON will commence on 21 June with the final scheduled for 19 July.
