Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. By Evelyn Usman & Esther Onyegbula O NE  of the seven members of a notorious robbery gang arrested by the Police in Lagos has said “we hack into victims’ bank accounts through their ATM cards, voter’s cards and driver’s licence.” The gang, known as  Blue Water Boys , has been terrorising residents of Ojo, Okokomaiko, Ajagbandi, Ijanikin, Iba and its environs, along with the Mile-2 Badagry Expressway, Lagos. Members of the gang operated in a group of 20 and 30, dispossessing helpless residents of cash, Automated Teller Machine, ATM, cards, telephones, driver’s license and other valuables. The gang met its Waterloo after information got to policemen that some of its members were sighted making withdrawals from an ATM at the Alaba branch of a second generation bank.
