Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. Four gubernatorial candidates in Ogun state have reached agreements with Muslims to respect their rights to religion including the use of hijab in public schools, non-return of public schools to the missionaries and involvement of the Muslims in governance of the state. The four candidates among whom were: Mr Ridwan Oduneye of the Peoples’ Party of Nigeria (PPN), Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Dimeji Bankole of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), and Mr Oluseyi Gabriel Olufade of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), gave the pledge at an interactive session organised by the Muslim community for candidates held at the Egba Central Mosque, Kobiti Abeokuta, the state capital. According to social media reports, the former governor of Lagos called them Atikukated Nigerians before proceeding to take pictures with them. Earlier on, a video surfaced showing Tinubu allegedly throwing away an APC flag at the party’s presidential rally in Ogun State. Buhari stoned at APC rally in Ogun President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress national party chairman were on Monday attacked at the party's rally held in Abeokuta. The President was stoned with materials suspected to be shoes and stones. As a result of the violence, activities at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, was paused for some minutes. President Buhari was shielded by his security agents who blocked his front to avoid being hit by the objects being thrown at him and other party members. The development angered the leaders of the party, including former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, who left the podium while the President was making his remarks. TCN announces planned power outage in Lagos, Ogun

FG not afraid of country’s growing population, it is an advantage, says Ngige 5 hours ago    Nigeria The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage in some parts of Lagos and Ogun States on Jan. 13 and Jan. 15, between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Ms Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager, Public Affairs Unit, TCN, in a statement said the outage was due to an annual preventive maintenance scheduled to take place at the Ikeja-West 330/132Kv Transmission Sub-Region in Lagos. According to Mbah, there will be interruption of electricity supply to consumers receiving supply within its Lagos network specifically in parts of Alimosho, Ejigbo and Agbara, in Lagos and Ogun States respectively. “The interruption will be on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019 between 8:00am and 5:00pm, and Tuesday, Jan. 15 between 8:00am and 5:00pm. “The planned outage will enable TCN engineers from Ikeja-West Transmission Sub-Region carry out annual preventive maintenance work ...

ABUJA – The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will this week, deploy its Contact and Integration Committee to some states in the federation recently hit by crisis arising from party primaries. Members of the PDP The committee chaired by former Cross River state governor, Senator Liyel Imoke is set to meet with some disgruntled members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo, Zamfara and Ogun states which governors are currently locked in a battle with the leadership of the party. Although Governors Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara) and Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun) are not expected to defect to another party before the elections, there are indications that many aggrieved members in the affected states may jump ship to protest their alleged maltreatment in the primaries.
