Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, with the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. President Buhari Mourns Death Of APC Supporters In Port-Harcourt

Victims of PH stampede President Muhammadu Buhari has just been briefed about the tragic death of some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a stampede at the presidential campaign rally held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Tuesday. President Buhari is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives and extends deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims. He also wished a speedy recovery to all those injured. Buhari stoned at APC rally in Ogun President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress national party chairman were on Monday attacked at the party's rally held in Abeokuta. The President was stoned with materials suspected to be shoes and stones. As a result of the violence, activities at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, was paused for some minutes. President Buhari was shielded by his security agents who blocked his front to avoid being hit by the objects being thrown at him and other party members. The development angered the leaders of the party, including former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, who left the podium while the President was making his remarks. President Buhari congratulates new NLC leadership

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Mr Ayuba Wabba on his re-election as President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). Buhari in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Wednesday, also congratulated other members of the National Executive Committee for their election and re-election. Garba Shehu The president said he looked forward to working closely with Wabba, NLC Central Working Committee (CWC) and the National Executive Council of the Congress to fulfil the extraordinary promise of partnership between government and labour. He wished them a successful tenure. Wabba was returned unopposed as the President of NLC by delegates at the 12th Delegates Conference of NLC on Wednesday in Abuja. The new executive will lead the workers’ union from 2019 to  2023.

President Buhari, WAEC and PDP's toxic air by Garba Shehu

Earlier today, the West African Examination Council WAEC, issued president Buhari an an attestation and confirmation of his 1961 West African School Certificate (WASC) Examination result. In this new article released this evening, Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, tackled PDP and the media for focusing on an issue that according to him was long dead. Regarding the media, Garba in his article that there were more pressing issues for the media spotlight to have been focused on than the issue of President Buhari's certificate. The media aide to the president described WAEC as a god-sent non-political body that stepped forward to resolve the controversy.
