Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. Former US Vice President Al Gore’s sustainability-focused investment firm, Generation Investment Management (GIM), is leading a $100 million funding round in Andela, a technology startup company. By this new investment, Andela, with technology campuses in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, would increase its venture capital funding to date to $180 million. Andela, which builds distributed engineering teams with Africa’s top software developers, added that the investment round, which is Series D is led by GIM was with participation from existing investors including Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, GV, Spark Capital, and CRE Venture Capital.
