Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Board of Trustees, BoT, Kaulaha Aliyu, has defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC. Aliyu disclosed his defection to APC after some other defectors accompanied the Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar to a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday, News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports. Addressing State House Correspondents after the closed-door meeting, the former PDP BoT member enjoined the APC to ensure President Buhari emerges victorious in the forthcoming general elections. “It’s a matter of principles – I believe among all the candidates nobody can come near the integrity and honesty of President Buhari and with what he has done to the North East in particular, I feel I should support him and do the best I can for him to emerge victorious come Feb. 16, 2019,” he said.
