Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. The State Security Service (SSS, also called DSS) has denied tapping the telephone lines of Nigerians, NAN reports. A political group had alleged that the SSS had tapped the telephone lines of Nigerians. But Peter Afunanya, the Public Relations Officer of the SSS, said in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja that the organisation was committed to its professional ideals and would not engage in unethical conduct. The Kaduna State Command of the Department of State Services ( DSS ) has explained why it arrested the Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party campaign, Ben Bako. The security outfit said it picked up Bako because of a recent inciting statement credited to him. It said if left unchecked, the comment was capable of leading to a “complete breakdown of law and order in the state and beyond”. It would be recalled, that the PDP Campaign DG, Mr. Ben Bako, was arrested after a video in which he allegedly called for anybody that fails to vote for the PDP in the forthcoming election to be killed. The PDP in the state, however, said his arrest was part of a plan by the All Progressives Congress in the state to clampdown on opposition elements. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the immediate release of the Kaduna spokesman of the party, Ben Bako by the Department of States Security Services (DSS) in the state. National Publicity Secretary and Director Media and Publicity, Presidential Campaign Organisation of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, called for his release in a statement on Monday. He accused the Federal Government of unlawfully detaining members of their party ahead of the general election. “This is highly provocative and a direct invitation to anarchy and a political crisis that is capable of derailing our democratic order. “Our party is concerned over the unwarranted arrest of the Director of Media Committee of the Kaduna state PDP Governorship Campaign Organization, Mr Ben Bako, who has been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) since last weekend”. Hate speech: DSS arrests PDP Spokesman

The Director, Media and Publicity, Kaduna State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Organisation, Mr.Ben Bako, has been arrested by security agents. It was learnt that, Mr.Bako, has been taken to Abuja headquarters of the Department of Security Service, DSS,for questioning over what it referred to as hate speech made during the PDP campaign in Kafachan last week. Recall that the All Progressives Congress,(APC), supporters have earlier called for Mr. Bako’s arrest over alleged incitement. They further claimed that, the PDP’s Spokesperson had told their supporters in Southern Kaduna during one of the opposition’s campaign rallies to attack anyone who will vote for APC in the area. Reacting, PDP Deputy Campaign Director-General, Ashiru/Marshal governorship Campaign Organisation , Mr.Danjuma Sarki alleged that the arrest “was orchestrated to persecute and silence the opposition in the last days of the election”
