Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. Update on Mali hotel siege: 3 killed, 80 hostages freed + pics from the scene of the incident

3 people including two Malians are said to have been killed in the hostage taking at Radisson Blu in Bamako, Mali this morning. Armed men stormed the hotel taking 170 people hostage. 80 of the hostages have so far been freed. Those freed include three Turkish Airlines staff, 12 Air France staff and Guinean singer Sekouba Bambino. More photos after the cut...

A constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome SAN, has accused the Federal Government of engaging in unnecessary political witch-hunt. ASUU strike: We are yet to reach agreement with Buhari govt – Prof. Ogunyemi

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Wednesday declared that it was yet to reach an agreement with the Federal Government over the lingering strike. President of ASUU, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, said the negotiations between both parties were still inconclusive. According to Ogunyemi, the team that represented the union at the meeting with representatives of government had no final say over calling off the strike action. Speaking with Tribune, Ogunyemi said: “It was just yesterday (Tuesday) that government sent the proposal to us without waiting for feedback before going to the public that we have reached an agreement. ASUU does not operate in that manner. “The ASUU team that met the Federal Government would have to consult our principal over the proposal which we are already doing. “So, ASUU cannot make a pronouncement on a mere proposal. A Nigerian mother has horribly brutalized her own 7-year-old son in Enugu state, leaving him with multiple injuries. The unnamed woman is said to have beaten up the poor boy just because he broke her food flask. The story was told by one Ifeoma Faith Nebe on her Instagram page. According to her, the battered boy came to school today February 1, 2019, with sores all over his body and when he was asked who was responsible for his injuries, he refused to open up. Instead he lied that he fell down. However, when teachers continued to ask, the boy eventually revealed that his mother was the one who had beaten him up. DELTA State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has said that with the setting in of the dry season, contractors handling different road projects in the state have fully mobilised to sites. Governor Okowa made the disclosure on Monday  during the inspection of some road projects in Boji-Boji Agbor, Ika South local government area of Delta State. The governor who spoke to journalists after inspecting Queens Street, and roads at the Delta Development and Property Authority (DDPA) Estate, assured Deltans that the dry season would be fully utilised for construction of roads across the state.
