Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. Zakzaky Remanded In Prison, Charged With Conspiracy

Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Shi’ite Islamic group in Nigeria, has been charged with criminal conspiracy and inciting public disturbances by the Chief Magistrate Court, Kaduna.
El-Zakzaky, who was arraigned alongside some followers by the police, was remanded in prison custody.
It could not be confirmed if the plea of the accused was taken or if they had legal representation.
Olabisi Kolawole, the force public relations officer, told the Punch on Tuesday that the Shi’ite leader was being prosecuted for incitement and public disturbances among other charges.
“The Shi’ite leader has been arraigned in court where he was charged with criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbances among others; he has been remanded in prison custody and the case adjourned,”she said.
Some members of the Shi’ite group had had a clash with the army about two weeks ago during which at least 20 persons were killed.
El-Zakzaky was later taken into custody by the army for police to investigate the case. The army had accused the Shi’ite group of attempting to assassinate Tukur Buratai, the chief of army staff, but the Islamic movement said the soldiers simply attacked “defenseless people.”
Moreover, armoured tanks have allegedly demolished the Hussainiyya shrine and the residence of the leader of the sect in Zaria.
