Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. The special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has announced in a statement on February 5, Friday, that President Muhammadu Buhari has begun a short vacation.

According to Adesina, while Buhari is on vacation, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will perform the functions of the president.
The presidential aide said in compliance with Section 145 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution, Buhari had dispatched a formal notice of his vacation to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Buhari has arrived in London to attend a conference on the ongoing Syrian crisis. The Supporting Syria & the Region conference is co-hosted by the UK, Germany, Kuwait, Norway and the UN and focuses on how to step up efforts to assist millions of Syrians displaced by the conflict, which started in 2011.
The leader of the nation was expected back to Nigeria at the weekend.
There were speculations that President Buhari visited London because he needs medical treatment.


It’s Buhari’s first vacation as the Nigerian President.

Mama Biafra A pro-Biafra supporter identified as Mrs. Felicia Ejezie, popularly known as Mama Biafra was arraigned at the Umuahia Magistrate Court presided over by Magistrate Linda Ugboaja. She was arraigned by the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Ogbizi, on Friday for selling Pro-Biafia newspapers. The Police had in the charge number U/9512018, charged Ejezie, aged 55 years for “promoting membership of a terrorist group, IPOB by selling different IPOB newspapers”, thereby committing “an offence punishable section 64(A) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 80 Vol 3, Laws of Abia state of Nigeria 2005”. The woman pleaded not guilty. However, the Police prosecuting Counsel opposed bail application by her lawyer, Grant N. Nwokoma on the condition that her crime was seditious in nature and that she may abscond if granted bail. The Magistrate, Linda Ugboaja ignored the plea by the Police prosecuting Counsel not to grant Mrs. Ejezie bail and granted her bail in the sum of N300,000....

Human rights group blames Borno govt over expelled Nigerian refugees

The Save Humanity Advocacy Centre (SHAC), a human rights group, has blamed the Borno State Government over the plight of no fewer than 100,000 refugees recently expelled from Cameroon. Cameroon is currently home to more than 370,000 refugees, including some 100,000 from Nigeria, according to the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). Recently, the Cameroonian government started the eviction of the refugees with a larger proportion of the affected persons being women, children, and persons that are infirm on account of old age, injury or poor health.
