Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. Buhari had, after attending the Supporting Syria conference and a meeting with Nigerians in London, sent a letter to the National Assembly, informing it of his vacation.
In the letter, according to presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, the Nigerian leader said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would stand in for him in accordance with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The president did not, meanwhile, name the reason for his vacation, which caused the speculations that he used the opportunity to see his doctors.
However, the presidential spokesman , stating that he took the break just to rest, having worked for eight months non-stop.

While in London, the president stayed at an apartment in the Knightsbridge area of the city, but reportedly sent his aides back to Nigeria.
President Buhari may resume his foreign trips on February 24 as he to visit Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
