Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. Man commits suicide by jumping into canal in Lagos (photo)

An unidentified man committed suicide at Cele Bus Stop area of Lagos state yesterday April 1st, according to a report by PM News. Lagos State Fire Service Director, Rasak Fadipe, who made the incident known, said eyewitnesses said the man was walking along the road when he suddenly pulled off his shoes and jumped into the canal.

He was pulled out of the canal but efforts to revive him failed. No one knows why he did what he did.

INEC Chairman Explains Reasons For Postponement Of Elections, Seeks Understanding (Full Speech)

The INEC Chairman, Professor Yakubu Mahmood has explained why the commission postponed the Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, February 16. Speaking at a meeting with stakeholders in Abuja, the INEC Chairman ruled out political influence in the postponement, saying that the commission takes full responsibility for the anomaly. Giving reasons for the postponement, Prof. Yakubu said, “The decision has nothing to do with security,  political influence or inadequate resources ” The meeting followed INEC’s announcement in the early hours of Saturday postponing the general elections by a week, less than five hours to the start of the polls.
