Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. President Muhammadu Buhari on
Thursday, December 15, commissioned three
war ships and 27 patrol boats at the Nigerian
Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos
state.
One of the war ships commissioned was said
to have been imported while the two others
were built locally.

Progressives Congresss Asiwaju Bola Ahmed
Tinubu, was conspicuously absent at the
commissioning ceremony despite his house
being a stone-throw away from the venue of
the event.
It was gathered that the president who
touched down at the presidential wing of the
Murtala Mohammed International Airport
Thursday noon was received by the state
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Buhari was accompanied on the visit by the
Minister of Power, Works and Housing,
Babatunde Fashola, Minister of
Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, other
ministers, army chiefs as well as the police.
