Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. It is indeed a time of joy as thousands of
people have converged at the Independence
Square in Accra to witness the momentous
swearing-in of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-
Addo as the fifth President of the Fourth
Republic.
The victorious party, New Patriotic Party
(NPP) and its many supporters from across
the country, are glued to their television
sets, while others are in attendance at the
square.

Thousands of enthusiastic supporters and
well-wishers of Ghana are watching the
historic ceremony live on various social
media platforms.
The program was set for 10 a.m. and has
begun, with many heads of state, including
President Muhammadu Buhari arriving this
very moment at the square.
The ceremony is set to host heads of state
and Government from Togo, Gabon, Liberia,
Cote d’Ivoire, Zambia, Benin, Nigeria,
Equitorial Guinea, Guinea and Ethiopia.
Thirteen other countries are expected to send
representatives who will be joined by about
6,000 foreign dignitaries at the event where
Ivorian President Alhassan Outtarra is the
special guest of honour.
