Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. President Buhari Congratulates Afe Babalola At 87

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday joined the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and National Judicial Council (NJC) in celebrating one of the country’s brightest and resourceful lawyers, Afe Babalola (SAN), on his 87th birthday.
He also sent his warm felicitations to family, friends, close associates and professional colleagues of the legal luminary whose indelible imprint on the legal profession and academia remains legendary.
The President believes Mr Babalola is an inspiration to both the young and old on the power of dreaming big and the audacity of following through, having started out as a Grade 11 teacher who by hard work, discipline and self-motivation propelled himself to great heights of success, including the establishment of a private university.
He affirmed that his wealth of knowledge and wisdom have been rightfully deployed in service of God, his country and humanity.
As the legal luminary marks his 87th birthday, President Buhari commended his large-heartedness and love for the poor and vulnerable.
He prayed for more of God’s abundant grace upon the senior advocate for longer life, good health and strength to further serve the country and humanity.

As the National Coalition Center opens by 11:00amon on Monday in Abuja, results from Saturday’s presidential election across the 36 states and Abuja are expected to trickle in. Breaking News: Abia State To Get A New Governor, PDP Is Out

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the April 11 Abia state governorship election and the April 25 supplementary election, has been sacked. Alex Otti (left) and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu (right) The court delivered judgement on the election petition in the last day of the year 2015. According to the ruling, Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the winner of the election, ordered his immediate swearing-in. The APGA candidate scored 164,444 valid votes to defeat Ikpeazu of the PDP, who secured 114,444 votes. The Owerri-based five-member panel of the court of appeal was headed by Justice Oyebisi Omoleye. The justice said the cancellation of the elections held in three local govenment areas, Obingwa, Osisioma Ngwa and Isiala Ngwa, was unlawful. The returning officer has the right to only declare the results, but not to cancel the election. Omoleye had previously struck out the preliminary objections by Ikpeazu’s (PDP) counsel
