Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

A 67-year-elderly person has been summoned before the Lagos State Magistrate Court at Igbosere, Lagos, for purportedly hacking into a First Bank Plc record and taking N16.2million. Civil Defence orders crackdown on illegal private guard firms

THE Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Alhaji Abdullahi Gana, has ordered a crackdown on illegal private guard companies across the country.

Gana said the move was a security measure to curb the proliferation of illegal private guard companies.
Consequently, he has directed that a Joint Task Force (JTF) be constituted between the Corps and state chapters of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN).
Ondo State Commandant of the NSCDC, Pedro Awili Ideba, disclosed this in Akure while inaugurating the JTF.
A statement by the state Command spokesperson, Oladapo Samuel, said that the rate at which illegal private guard companies were springing up was worrisome.
He said that the situation was a threat to national security.
Responding, the Chairman of ALPSPN in the state, Mr. Akinbileje Matthew, said the association will partner with NSCDC for the smooth and easy enforcement of the JTF mandate.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Akeredolu on Security, Prince Tunde Akande, said the state government is committed to securing lives and property in the state.

A video has emerged showing the moment the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, was humiliated by villagers at Usen in Ovia South West local government area, on Thursday 24th January 2018. UK disagrees with US decision to ban Huawei 5G Network

THE United Kingdom’s National Cyber Security Centre, NCSC, has said Huawei’s network equipment are not a threat to its security. This is despite restrictions in the United States on Huawei’s 5G network equipment and allegations that Chinese manufacturers are spying on the West. The centre also added that any potential risk posed from using the company’s equipment can be easily mitigated. UK Financial Times reported the NCSC has ruled out a blanket ban, but hasn’t formally settled on what to do in response to the US’s persuasion to ban the use of Huawei equipment. Huawei’s founder, Ren Zhengfei, in an interview with the BBC, stated categorically that “the US cannot crush Huawei.” In a previous report by the Bloomberg, Ren had stated that despite the potential impact of the US plot on the business, he was confident Huawei’s revenue would grow to $125 billion in 2019 from more than $100 billion last year.
