A housewife, Rachel Nicklaus Adetsav, on Friday night killed her husband with a pestle, slaughtered her three children with a knife and allegedly stabbed herself to death in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The Guardian learnt that the woman, who was in her early 30s, was always quarrelling with her husband.
The source said the suspect first killed her husband, Nicholas Adestav and slaughtered their three children, after which she smashed the husband’s Gulf car, returned to the room and stabbed herself to death.
Further investigation revealed that trouble started between the young couple, both employees of the Makurdi Local Government Council at about 8:00pm that fateful day, when both returned from their offices.
A co-tenant said they knew there was problem when she came out to destroy the car, after which she hurriedly entered the room and locked the door, preventing other neighbours from gaining entrance into their apartment.
The deceased were indigenes of Gwer- East Local Council.
