Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. LAUTECH gets new VC

Following the expiration of Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin’s tenure as the Vice-chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso in February 2019, a professor of Food Chemistry, Prof. Micheal Ologunde, has emerged as a substantive successor.
DAILY POST gathered that Ologunde, who hailed from Osun State, and a former Head of Department of Food Science and Engineering was picked among eleven candidates that applied for the post.
Among those applied for the plump job were: Prof. Timothy Adebayo (Agronomy department), Prof. Idowu Adetunji (Agronomy department), Prof. Ismail Oladosu (Agricultural Economics & Extension), Prof. Femi Fadiora (Anatomy) Prof. Joseph Abayomi among others.
Recall that the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Gbadegesin came to the saddle as a candidate of Oyo State, in line with the rotational arrangement in the institution, being jointly owned by both the governments of Oyo and Osun.
According to a reliable source on the campus, the newly appointed VC remains the first to be appointed within the university, as all his predecessors emerged outside LAUTECH’s academic system.
