Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. Army commences Operation Python Dance III in Borno, Yobe

Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Biu, has announced the commencement of Operation Python Dance III in Borno and Yobe states to provide adequate security for next month’s general elections.

He said the exercise was the Army’s resolve to conduct coordinated joint operations with other security agencies in both states.“We resolved to conduct joint operations in collaboration with other security and paramilitary agencies to aid civil authority,” said
Biu, who represented Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, at the Army headquarters in Maiduguri, yesterday, said with the commencement of the exercise, the Army would check thugs and other miscreants who may disturb security and peace in the country.
He said the operation was designed to sustain the fight against Boko Haram terrorism and eliminate all criminals hiding under Boko Haram in Borno and Yobe states to commit various crimes.
According to him, the pythons are everywhere dancing to swallow suspected criminals in the Northeast, adding, “If you remain peaceful, the python will continue to fast without devouring any suspected criminals or miscreants that cause insecurity to lives and property.”

Court of Appeal reverses Nyako’s impeachment as Adamawa state governor

A Court of Appeal sitting in Yola, Adamawa state has reversed the July 15th 2014 impeachment of Murtala Nyako as governor of Adamawa State. The former Governor who was accused of misappropriation of public funds while in office, was impeached after 17 of 25 members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly voted against him at the state house of Assembly. Delivering judgement in an appeal filed by Nyako today February 11th, the Court of Appeal ruled that the process leading to his impeachment contravened the provisions of the Law. Justice Tunde Ayotoye who read the unanimous judgement, said Nyako was not given fair hearing during his impeachment and that his rights were violated by the Assembly members. The court in its ruling, ordered that all his entitlement before and after leaving office should be paid. The judges however dismissed Nyako's appeal to be reinstated as Governor of the state. The judges ruled that his tenure as governor had elapsed.

Singer Rihanna sues father for using her brand’s name

Robyn Rihanna Fenty, popularly known as Rihanna is taking her own father, Ronald Fenty to court. The Barbados singer is said to be angry at the fact that her father is using her brand’s name, Fenty, to launch a business for himself. The name Fenty had already been trademarked by Rihanna for all her businesses, including her well-known beauty line. According to the statement released by TMZ: “Rihanna is going after her own father in court for using her Fenty brand and his relationship to her to launch a business for himself … according to new court docs.” In a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Rihanna claims her father, Ronald Fenty, recently started a talent development company in 2017 called Fenty Entertainment.
