Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. Strange Animal Killed Near Ibori Golf Club In Asaba (Photos)

African civet killed by locals in Delta
An animal said to be wild African civets have been killed two days ago in Delta state.
The nocturnal animals were killed at the back of Ibori Golf Club in Asaba, state and butchered for food by the locals.
According to Wikipedia, African civet is a large viverrid native to sub-Saharan Africa, where it is considered common and widely distributed in woodlands and secondary forests. It is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List since 2008.

Tension, like a cloak, hangs over Araromi in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, following a robbery attack which occurred in the community recently. Osun election: Don’t drag my school into murky politics – Poly rector tells PDP

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, Dr. John Adekolawole,has warned the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state not to drag the institution into partisan politics. He described as baseless and untrue , the allegation by PDP that some students of the polytechnic were caught with fake Permanent Voters’ Cards, PVCs, at Ajue, a suburb of the town. This was contained in a press release issued by the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the polytechnic, Mr. Sola Lawal, the copy which was made available to newsmen on Wednesday. The statement warned politicians to desist from dragging students of the polytechnic into such dirty game, noting that the institution remains neutral, with extant law and regulation that insulate students against partisan politics . The Nigerian Chambers of Commerce has said that less than 800 companies closed shop in Nigeria between 2009 and 2011, due to the harsh operating business environment.
