Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. PHOTO: NAN The Minister of State for  Labour  and Employment, Dr Festus Keyamo, stated this when the Political Counsellor, British High Commission, Mr Dominic Williams, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. “We are ready to collaborate with our partners all over the world to open up avenues for job creation. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. OAP Toke Makinwa has condemned the Independent National Electoral Commission for not considering the plight of many Nigerians before the abrupt postponement of the 2019 election.
Toke who was angered by the fact that INEC waited till 2a.m to announce the postponement of elections, wrote:
‘If this picture of youth corpers sleeping outside is real then it’s a big shame. I am disgusted at the blatant disregard, you wait till 2am to announce the postponement of the elections????Why???”
“People have travelled far and wide to their various polling units and you do this???? Which way Nigeria???? Why do we love to embarrass ourselves so much? The whole world is watching and we do this???? I am so confused.”
