Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. A 67-year-elderly person has been summoned before the Lagos State Magistrate Court at Igbosere, Lagos, for purportedly hacking into a First Bank Plc record and taking N16.2million. The lady,  Wuraola Folashade Oluloye , was summoned on a five-count charge of fraudulent diversion, was captured following a complaint from Solomon Akhanolu, Head of the Department of Forensic Auditors of First Bank. Katsina decides: INEC announces winner of Daura, President Buhari’s constituency

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Alhaji Nasir Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the state assembly seat to represent Daura constituency in the Katsina State House of Assembly.
Daura is the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dr. Abdulwahab Musa, the Returning Officer, who announced the results, said Nasir Yahaya scored 31,062 votes to defeat his opponent Lawal Hussaini of PDP, who scored 8,335 votes and Maryam Maidawa of SDP, who polled only 2 votes.
He said the total number of registered voters were 85,807, while those accredited were 40,822. The votes cast were 40,781, and valid votes were 39,695, while rejected votes were 10,086.
In a related development, the electoral body also declared the incumbent Speaker of the Katsina House of Assembly, Alhaji Tasiu Musa, winner of the Zango state constituency election.
He scored 23,319 votes to win Zango LGA state constituency and secured a seat in the state house of assembly defeating Biniya Umar of PDP, who got 12,229 votes respectively.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the elections were conducted peacefully amidst tight security.

New World Record: 96 years old Indian woman scores 98% in literacy exam

Karthyayani Amma,  a 96-year-old woman set a record by scoring 98 marks out of 100 in the literacy exam in southern Indian state of Kerala. The Kerala State literacy mission conducts equivalency examination in different grades for people who could not get proper schooling.   After the results were declared on Wednesday, Karthyayani Amma was felicitated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Amma, who hails from Cheeped in Alapuzha district north of Kerala state’s capital Thiruvananthapuram, has never attended any school.   She is said to have been inspired by her daughter, who recently finished the literacy mission’s course. “I saw children studying and got inspired. Strike: LASU to comply with ASUU directives within 48 hours –Official

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Lagos State University (LASU) Chapter says it will comply fully to the nationwide lecturers strike declared by its national body within 48 hours. One of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Helicopters during a test landing exercise in readiness for emergency medical and rescue Operations at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, Dr Adeolu Oyekan, Assistant Secretary, ASUU-LASU made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday. A video has emerged showing the moment the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, was humiliated by villagers at Usen in Ovia South West local government area, on Thursday 24th January 2018.
