Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. A 67-year-elderly person has been summoned before the Lagos State Magistrate Court at Igbosere, Lagos, for purportedly hacking into a First Bank Plc record and taking N16.2million. Obafemi Martins: Nigeria’s most travelled footballer

The beginning of Obafemi Martins’ career has been quite interesting.  A talented young man who was scouted by coach of FC Ebeide while he was knocking a ball around the street.

Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins (born 28 October 1984) plays as a forward.
He is known for his speed on the ball. After leaving Nigeria for Italy at age 16, he has since played for a number of top-division clubs across Europe.
He began his senior career in 2002 at the Italian Serie A club Inter Milan, before moving to the English Premier League club Newcastle in 2006, and then the German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg in 2009.
Having joined Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan in July 2010, they loaned him to Birmingham City in January 2011.
In club football, Martins has won the Italian Serie A title, the Italian Cup (twice), and the Italian Super Cup, all with Inter. With Birmingham, he scored the winning goal in the 2011 Football League Cup Final.
He has played European football with Inter, Newcastle, and Wolfsburg, winning the UEFA Intertoto Cup with Newcastle.
Martins has been in the Nigerian squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008 and 2010, and for the FIFA World Cup in 2010.
He played for Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer from 2013 to 2015, scoring 40 goals, before moving on to China.
Obafemi became famous quite quickly, as in agility and skill he had few equals, so there’s no wonder that very soon he played for the Italian club Inter Milan.
As a member of ‘Black-and-Blue’ team, Martins proved his worth by scoring 23 goals for the youth team of the club.
Martins had two brothers who also played football professionally, his elder brother, Oladipupo Martins, played for Reggiana, Partizan, and Innsbruck before retiring from football in 2009 due to heart problems.
Martins’ younger brother is John Ronan Martins. The name “Obafemi” translates literally to “the king loves me” in the Yoruba language.

New World Record: 96 years old Indian woman scores 98% in literacy exam

Karthyayani Amma,  a 96-year-old woman set a record by scoring 98 marks out of 100 in the literacy exam in southern Indian state of Kerala. The Kerala State literacy mission conducts equivalency examination in different grades for people who could not get proper schooling.   After the results were declared on Wednesday, Karthyayani Amma was felicitated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Amma, who hails from Cheeped in Alapuzha district north of Kerala state’s capital Thiruvananthapuram, has never attended any school.   She is said to have been inspired by her daughter, who recently finished the literacy mission’s course. “I saw children studying and got inspired. Strike: LASU to comply with ASUU directives within 48 hours –Official

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Lagos State University (LASU) Chapter says it will comply fully to the nationwide lecturers strike declared by its national body within 48 hours. One of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Helicopters during a test landing exercise in readiness for emergency medical and rescue Operations at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, Dr Adeolu Oyekan, Assistant Secretary, ASUU-LASU made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday. A video has emerged showing the moment the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, was humiliated by villagers at Usen in Ovia South West local government area, on Thursday 24th January 2018.
