Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. A 67-year-elderly person has been summoned before the Lagos State Magistrate Court at Igbosere, Lagos, for purportedly hacking into a First Bank Plc record and taking N16.2million. Karthyayani Amma,  a 96-year-old woman set a record by scoring 98 marks out of 100 in the literacy exam in southern Indian state of Kerala. The Kerala State literacy mission conducts equivalency examination in different grades for people who could not get proper schooling.   After the results were declared on Wednesday, Karthyayani Amma was felicitated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Obaseki approves N843m for the payment of LGA pensioners

Godwin Obaseki of Edo, has approved the release of N843, 324, 509.46 for the payment of three years pension arrears for local government workers in the state. The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon. Jimoh Ijegbai, disclosed this at a press conference in Benin on Monday. He said the payment of the arrears was for the period between 2015 and 2018. Ijegbai said “You will recall that during the May Day celebration last year, the governor approved N1.5 billion to defray arrears of pensioners of the unified local government system in Edo. “This recent approval of N843, 324, 509.46 is a further demonstration of the commitment of the Obaseki-led administration to ensure that all arrears of pension are cleared. “Last year, on a monthly basis, we were using N264 million to pay pensioners and at the close of December, we paid pensioners to the tune of N3.168billion. `If you add this to t...

Confusion and palpable tension have gripped the Osun State University, as the Vice-chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola, and members of the trade union in the university accused each other of fraud and misconduct.
