A CALL FOR SUSPENSION OF THE SUG PRESIDENT OF EDE POLY BY ASUP EDE, A JOKE TAKEN TOO FAR- NAPS

The Constant call for the suspension of SUG President of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede Rufai Lukman Opeyemi SIWES by the ASUP of the Polytechnic is laughable. The President averted a potential crisis that would have befallen the Polytechnic when a Lecturer's vehicle parked in front of the SUG Office caused an accident which led to two students sustaining injuries. These sparked the anger of students who wanted to burn down the vehicle, but the SUG President decided to deflate the tyres as an alternative to calm the angry students down. The lecturer felt offended and reported to ASUP, the matter was referred to students deciplinary committee and the committee gave recommendation to the management which gave birth to the letter attached in the pictures below. The President was warned and this didn't go down well with ASUP.

We want to set the record straight that SUG and ASUP of an Institution are suppose to be sister Unions who are to work hand in hand towards a better learning environment for both lecturers and students, but it is becoming the reverse this days taking examples from some Polytechnics in the recent, e.g Federal Polytechnic, Bida and Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe among many.

Consequent upon the above, ASUP Ede is hereby warned to desist from this act and comply with decision taken by the management on this matter or be ready to be on a logger head with the students community.

NAPS want to urge the students of Federal Polytechnic Ede to be calm as we are aware that their Exams which is supposed to commence today has been shifted to Wednesday because of the Lecturers refusal to conduct the examination. NAPS is on top of the situation as justice must prevail at the end of the day.

Aluta Continua!

President of NAPS
