Job: Nigeria, Britain partner to combat unemployment

The Nigerian government has expressed its willingness to partner with the British Government in tackling unemployment and creating job opportunities for young persons in the country. We are open to all kinds of suggestions and levels of co-operation,” he said. He disclosed that the Government has opened up other sectors as part of efforts to diversify the economy from oil, which would, in turn, create room for employment. The Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers robbed three commercial banks in Ikirun town in the state last Friday. ‎  Items recovered from the suspects include over seven million Naira cash, three AK 47 rifles, 124 ammunition, one assault rifle with 12 rounds of live ammunition and a vehicle. Parading them before newsmen, the State Commissioner of Police, Kola Shodipo, said that the police were on the trail of other members of the syndicate at large and urged members of the public to report any suspicious movement.

South east states top WAEC ranking, northern schools rank low

– 2015 WAEC analysis shows south east school perform well – Northern schools scored very low The analysis of the performance of states in the 2015 West African Senior School Certificate Examination has emerged with south east states again topping the chart with their candidates obtaining the most credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. The Punch reports that the details of the May/June WAEC examination were released on Thursday, February 4. Abia state topped the chart with 33, 762 of its 52, 801 candidates getting five credits and above including Mathematics and English thereby securing 63.94 per cent. Anambra followed with 61.18 per cent as 28, 379 out of 46, 385 candidates performed well. Buhari arrives in Abuja after London vacation

President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived back in Nigeria following his trip to the United Kingdom, where he  had a five-day vacation started on February 5, Friday. Buhari had, after attending the Supporting Syria conference and a meeting with Nigerians in London, sent a letter to the National Assembly, informing it of his vacation. READ ALSO:  Adesina speaks on Buhari’s health, sudden vacation In the letter, according to presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, the Nigerian leader said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would stand in for him in accordance with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). The president did not, meanwhile, name the reason for his vacation, which caused the speculations that he used the opportunity to see his doctors. However, the presidential spokesman  has since denied the reports that Buhari is sick , stating that he took the break just to rest, having worked for eight months non-stop. Court of Appeal reverses Nyako’s impeachment as Adamawa state governor

A Court of Appeal sitting in Yola, Adamawa state has reversed the July 15th 2014 impeachment of Murtala Nyako as governor of Adamawa State. The former Governor who was accused of misappropriation of public funds while in office, was impeached after 17 of 25 members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly voted against him at the state house of Assembly. Delivering judgement in an appeal filed by Nyako today February 11th, the Court of Appeal ruled that the process leading to his impeachment contravened the provisions of the Law. Justice Tunde Ayotoye who read the unanimous judgement, said Nyako was not given fair hearing during his impeachment and that his rights were violated by the Assembly members. The court in its ruling, ordered that all his entitlement before and after leaving office should be paid. The judges however dismissed Nyako's appeal to be reinstated as Governor of the state. The judges ruled that his tenure as governor had elapsed.

– Several people have been reported killed while scores are injured following a train crash in Bavaria – Authorities say two trains collided head on Emerging reports suggest that nine people have been killed in the southern German state of Bavaria following an early morning train crash. The special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, has announced in a statement on February 5, Friday, that President Muhammadu Buhari has begun a short vacation. The former Delta state governor has been released and rearrested after completing his jail term in a London hospital.
